CLT -Cross Laminated Timber

What is Cross Laminated Timber?

Cross-laminated timber (CLT) is a wood panel typically consisting of three, five, or seven layers of dimension timber oriented at right angles to one another and then glued to form structural panels with exceptional strength, dimensional stability, and rigidity. Lightweight yet very strong, with superior fire, seismic, and thermal performance, CLT is also fast and easy to install, generating almost no waste onsite.

CLT offers design flexibility and low environmental impact. For these reasons, cross laminated timber is proving to be a highly advantageous alternative to conventional materials like concrete, masonry, or steel, especially in multi-family and commercial construction.

Strength

CLT is suitable for all projects, from small to large multi story buildings..

Speed

Cross laminated timber construction can speed up projects by 30% – 40%

Sustainable

Manufactured from a sustainable resource CLT can make your project carbon neutral.

Insulation

Mass timber construction is a great thermal insulator with high R values

Cost Savings

Major savings can be found in the significant reductions in installation time.

Precision

Panel are manufactured in a factory setting allowing for much higher tolerances.

CLT STANDARD are structural large-format panels made of cross-laminated timber (CLT – cross laminated timber). The panels are manufactured from Spruce or Pine lamellas dried to 12–14 % and put together in layers; the layers form an angle of 90˚. The number of layers is odd (3, 5, 7) and determines the final thickness of the panel. PU glue, non-visual quality.

Wood: European Spruce CLT production          (Please also enquire about our local Pine CLT production from XLAM)
Panel compositions:
3-layer CLT: 60, 80, 84, 90, 100, 120 mm
5-layer CLT: 100, 120, 124, 140, 160, 180, 200 mm
7-layer CLT: 180, 200 mm Combination of lamellas of 20, 30 and 40 mm
For easy replacement with SOLID elements, we also offer CLT a thickness of 84 and 124 mm with individual lamellas.
Surface quality: only non-visual
CLT STANDARD panels can be glued with a 3-layer panel having a thickness of 19 mm to achieve visual quality and increase fire resistance. Compared to SOLID elements, there is a compromise in the accuracy and quality of the joints.

Basic recommended format (mm): 3,500 x 10,000, 2,500 x 12,000
Fibre direction: Longitudinal (L) as well as transverse (Q)
